Drifting Away (Happy Birthday!)

April 29, 2009
Drifting Away
Shall we indeed accept good from God, and shall we not accept adversity? —Job 2:10

Imagine relaxing on a rubber raft along the shore, eyes closed, soaking up the sun and listening to the gentle crash of waves. You don’t have a care in the world—until you open your eyes! Suddenly the shore is alarmingly distant.

We tend to drift like that spiritually. It’s subtle yet shocking when we suddenly realize how far we’ve drifted from God. The point of departure begins when Satan steals our affection for our loving Creator by putting a deceitful twist on our experiences and causing us to suspect God instead of trust Him.

Consider Job and his wife. Both had plenty of reasons to be mad at God. Their children were dead, their fortune lost, and Job’s health destroyed. His wife told him, “Curse God and die!” But Job replied, “Shall we indeed accept good from God, and . . . not accept adversity?” (Job 2:9-10).

There are many attitudes that can set us adrift: believing that we need more than God to be happy; placing meaningful relationships above loyalty to God; thinking God should live up to our expectations; resisting His reproofs; turning a deaf ear when His Word is uncomfortable.

If you’re beginning to drift, remember to stay close to the One who is the sole source of satisfaction.  — Joe Stowell

Lord, help me to stay close to You
And trust You more each day,
So when the storms of life appear
I will not drift away. —Sper

To avoid drifting away from God, stay anchored to the Rock.

Job 1:13-22 (New King James Version)

Job Loses His Property and Children

13 Now there was a day when his sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house; 14 and a messenger came to Job and said, “The oxen were plowing and the donkeys feeding beside them, 15 when the Sabeans[a] raided them and took them away—indeed they have killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
16 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The fire of God fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the servants, and consumed them; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
17 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “The Chaldeans formed three bands, raided the camels and took them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
18 While he was still speaking, another also came and said, “Your sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house, 19 and suddenly a great wind came from across[b] the wilderness and struck the four corners of the house, and it fell on the young people, and they are dead; and I alone have escaped to tell you!”
20 Then Job arose, tore his robe, and shaved his head; and he fell to the ground and worshiped. 21 And he said:

“ Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
And naked shall I return there.
      The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away;
Blessed be the name of the LORD.”
22 In all this Job did not sin nor charge God with wrong.

WHEN ALL YOU HAVE IS GOD, YOU HAVE ALL YOU NEED! =)

A wise Bible teacher once said, “Sooner or later God will bring self-sufficient people to the place where they have no resource but Him—no strength, no answers, nothing but Him. Without God’s help, they’re sunk.”

He then told of a despairing man who confessed to his pastor, “My life is really in bad shape.” “How bad?” the pastor inquired. Burying his head in his hands, he moaned, “I’ll tell you how bad—all I’ve got left is God.” The pastor’s face lit up. “I’m happy to assure you that a person with nothing left but God has more than enough for great victory!”

“If YOU are willing, YOU can make me clean”

“I am willing; be cleansed.” just a short sentence but with a long lasting impact/effect on anyone's life. these are the word of JESUS to a leper who told HIM “If YOU are willing, YOU can make me clean”. if you want to be blessed right now, just read this entry (from ODB). trust me, believe it when they say that "GOD's Word is sharper than any two edged sword!" GODbless! =)

Unclean? Be Cleansed!
Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” —Mark 1:41

As I read Mark 1:40-45, I imagine the following scene:

They saw him coming toward them from across the way. He was waving his arms to warn them away. They recognized him by the bandanna covering his nose and mouth. His garments were torn and his skin peeled away from his body. He was a leper—unclean!

The crowd around Jesus scattered as the leper charged into their midst. Everyone was afraid of being touched by him because they themselves would then become unclean. Lepers were barred from the religious life of the community, isolated from society, and compelled to mourn their own death by tearing their clothes.

But this leper threw himself at Jesus’ feet, appealing to Him out of desperation and faith to restore him to wholeness: “If You are willing, You can make me clean” (v.40). Moved with compassion, Jesus touched the man and said, “I am willing; be cleansed” (v.41). Jesus healed the man of his leprosy and told him to show himself to the temple priest.

Jesus has the power to cleanse, forgive, and restore those who are hopelessly and helplessly caught up in their sin and can see no way out. Trust Him to say to you, “I am willing; be cleansed.”  — Marvin Williams

The Savior is waiting to save you
And wash every sin-stain away;
By faith you can know full forgiveness
And be a new creature today! —Bosch

Jesus specializes in restoration.

Mark 1:40-45 (New King James Version)

Jesus Cleanses a Leper

40 Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.”
41 Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” 42 As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed. 43 And He strictly warned him and sent him away at once, 44 and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing those things which Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.”
45 However, he went out and began to proclaim it freely, and to spread the matter, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter the city, but was outside in deserted places; and they came to Him from every direction.

how i wish that you could read this

how i wish that you could read this,
but if you're not HER, then don't react please...

you know that i really love you,
and hurting you is what i really don't want to do.

you we're there when i needed help and comfort,
especially during the time when i was hurt.

i can still remember the moments we we're happy,
and the night that i called you a "little doggy".

we separated because i really need to go,
but there's nothing i can do 'coz it's GOD's Will and we know.

at first i thought that everything will be okay,
but i was wrong and i didn't expect it to be this way.

i know i caused you pain and sorrow,
but i'm not losing hope that "someday you'll know".

right now, i'm really in a hard situation,
and i appreciate anyone's comment or opinion.

i trust GOD and i know HE is just always there for us,
but honestly, sometimes i feel like i can't move and i will be hit by a bus.

so i post some stupid entries in blog or notes that i want to die,
but of course i don't want to commit suicide, who am i?

i am just GOD's creation, and HE is the only who can take away anyone's life,
and i know that if you commit suicide you'll go straight to hell, even if you did or didn't use a knife.

i just thank HIM for everything,
and i can't compare HIM with anyone or anything!

HE helps me to forget my problems by using instruments such as my friends,
and now, i don't think the way others think like any problem never ends.

if i'm having problems, i just say or think of the text message i got from a good friend that i memorized for a long time,
don't let problems, put you down that you'll tell GOD that... oh, wait! i'll just put it in the next line 'coz if i put it here, it'll be longer and it will not rhyme.

"God i have a BIG problem...", but instead, say "problem, i have a BIG God!!!"
so it's another thing that GOD uses to help or comfort me so that i wouldn't be sad.

just always remember that we only just need to PUSH 'coz GAP,
and that GOD will never leave us, just like a person who never forgets to wear his cap.

i hope i you'll understand someday how i feel,
but i know if i can't make you understand, GOD will.

i thank GOD we became close even if it took us so many years to be friends,
and i know you'll believe me when i tell you i'm not lying to you or i'm not a person who pretends.

you told me that you trust me and you believe in me,
and that's what i'm still holding on, even in this situation that i can only say sorry.

i'm not losing hope that one day i will be successful and happy,
and when i go home, i will to see my waiting "little doggy".

i'm really sorry and i really love you, this i know,
but maybe, just maybe for now we need to let go...

GOD is Good all the time and all the time GOD is Good!

GOD is Good all the time and all the time GOD is Good! this is TRUE, believe it or not! thanks to all those people who let GOD to use them as intruments to others who need their help! just want to share that when i posted that i wanted to die (to be next Francis Magalona), i really wanted to die or for GOD to take me, but not for me to commit suicide. 'coz i know when i commit suicide or take away my life, i'll go straight to hell. and i don't want that eternal suffering. what i want is eternal peace and happiness, that's why i want GOD to take me 'coz i know when i die, i will go to heaven (whatever other people may say about me) 'coz i already ACCEPTED JESUS CHRIST AS MY PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOUR 'coz HE died just to save us. so, DO YOU KNOW WHERE WILL YOU GO WHEN YOU DIE??? HEAVEN OR HELL??? HOW SURE ARE YOU??? if you have questions or comments about this, then just post it and i'm willing to share the GOOD NEWS to you. GOD loves us all and HIS BEST PLAN or GOAL is for us to be with HIM when we perish here on earth. HE created us TO BE WITH HIM and to LOVE HIM and not the material things we have or the world. here's a verse from the Bible that we Christians call One Verse Evangelism:

Romans 6:23
"For the wages of sin is death,

but the gift of GOD is Eternal Life through JESUS CHRIST our LORD."

thank you for reading this. i appreciate it. i hope i'll receive comments 'coz i'm willing to share the GOOD NEWS and how to get the free gift of GOD which is Eternal Life through JESUS CHRIST. =) GODbless!
just PUSH 'coz GAP!

A Heart Of Concern

this is such a wonderful and touching story (Our Daily Bread story).. how i wish i could be like Jason Ray, but it's not too late! =)
got so many probs right now but i'm still not letting go of HIS Hand.. i know HE is the only whom i can Trust even if everyone is dictating me to do things against my will.. and also, another prob is "MISUNDERSTANDING".. i'm always being misunderstood.. to be honest, it pisses me off and i want to defend myself by hurting also those people who hurt me or misunderstand me but i know GOD will not be happy with this and i'll just make HIM sad just like all of the people do everyday.. it's like satan is using my emotions to fight those people back, but i'm just controlling my temper and thinking if i can gain something from also doing bad things to them.. it's like sometimes i want to beat up someone or anyone (just being HONEST) to release all the hard feelings in me.. but i prefer not to do so, and just PUSH! 'coz i know when i feel these things, it is not GOD who's being happy, but the devil.. how i wish all these things will stop immediately but i know GOD has the Best plan! so i'll just submit to HIS Will even if it's really hard for me to stop thinking about these problems or controlling my temper.. i'm so pressured right now so please, to those people who care for me, just pray for me and give some encouragements.. i know i'm good at giving advices or encouragement but also, everyone needs encouragements even strong people because sometimes, these strong people we know are the ones who are really weak when they're alone.. good thing that GOD said, "When you are weak, I am strong" and i believe in that! so what to do? just PUSH! and please PUSH for me too my friends, family, relatives, people who knows me and especially to my fellow believers.. PUSH 'coz GAP! thanks! GODbless y'all!
(and sorry to those people who are mad at me or consider me as their enemy, i hope one day you'll all forgive me 'coz we're only humans and GOD taught us to forgive 77 x 7, and if GOD forgives why can't we? right?)

A Heart Of Concern
Let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. —Philippians 2:3-4

Jason Ray was a ray of joy on the University of North Carolina campus in Chapel Hill. He performed as Rameses (the school mascot) for 3 years, hauling his giant ram’s head costume to sporting events one day and children’s hospitals the next. Then, in March 2007, while with his team for a basketball tournament, Jason was struck by a car. His family watched and waited at the hospital, but the 21-year-old succumbed to his injuries and died.

His story doesn’t end there, however. Jason had filed paperwork two years earlier to donate organs and tissue upon his death—and that act of concern saved the lives of four people and helped dozens of others. A young man in the prime of his life, with everything to live for, was concerned for the well-being of others and acted on that concern. Those individuals who were helped, as well as their families, are deeply grateful for this young man who thought of others.

Jason’s act echoes the heart of Paul’s words in Philippians 2, as he called believers to look beyond themselves and their own interests, and to look to the interests of others. A heart that turns outward to others will be a healthy heart indeed.  — Bill Crowder

Love thyself last. Look near, behold thy duty
To those who walk beside thee down life’s road.
Make glad their days by little acts of beauty
And help them bear the burden of earth’s load. —Wilcox

Looking to the needs of others honors Christ.

Philippians 2:1-11 (New King James Version)

Philippians 2

Unity Through Humility
1 Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, 2 fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. 3 Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. 4 Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
The Humbled and Exalted Christ
5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
